Jayhawks Ice Hockey Leuven (briefly : Jayhawks) is an Actual Association, founded with as aim forming a Senior Recreational Ice Hockey Team (Amateur Sports). |
| Art. 1.2 |
Jayhawks is a private initiative : this association is not affiliated to an official sports federation, as well as not to an official (ice hockey) club and/or ice rink. |
| Art. 1.3 |
The management of the association is independent of before mentioned bodies. |
| Art. 1.4 |
The aim of Jayhawks is to offer the possibility to adults to play ice hockey, in a recreational way, by participating in practices, games and tournaments. |
| Art. 1.5 |
Jayhawks play amateur ice hockey according to the principle of "non-intentional (physical) contact". |
| Art. 1.6 |
Jayhawks stand for sportivity. |
| Art. 1.7 |
Jayhawks stand for respect. For their own team. For the other team. For referees and officials. For supporters. For available infrastructure. |
| Art. 2 |
CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION |
| Art. 2.1 |
Both men and women are welcome as a player to Jayhawks. Separated dressing rooms and showers are available. |
| Art. 2.2 |
Active competition players (except goalies) are excluded from our recreational team. By exception they may be permitted to play and/or practice, but exclusively after consulting with and a positive answer from the Jayhawks Board - and always at own risk. |
| Art. 2.3 |
Minimum age for membership is 18 years. By exception junior players may be permitted to play and/or practice, but exclusively after consulting with and a positive answer from the Jayhawks Board - and always at own risk. |
| Art. 3 |
TRY-OUT POSSIBILITY FOR NEW PLAYERS |
| Art. 3.1 |
New players (non-members) are admitted for a Try-Out during a normal practice, but exclusively after consulting with and a positive answer from the Jayhawks Board - and always at own risk. |
| Art. 3.2 |
The contribution for this Try-Out is set to 20,00 euro for the use of the infrastructure (ice rink, dressing rooms, showers, ...) and needs to be paid "cash" to the treasurer before the start of the Try-Out. Eventual rental of ice hockey equipment is NOT included in this contribution (see also Art. 6). |
| Art. 3.3 |
If after the Try-Out a new player wishes to become member of Jayhawks, then this is only possible after a positive evaluation by the Jayhawks core players. Here is examined if the candidate player is compatible with the Jayhawks group : both concerning his (her) sportly (ice hockey) qualities and general social behaviour. |
| Art. 3.4 |
There's no refund if a player leaves the ice earlier than planned (for whatever reason). |

MEMBERSHIP |
| Art. 4.1 |
Every member is due to pay a fixed yearly contribution (member fee). This member fee is all-in for a regular ice hockey season in the period from September 1 until April 30 included. This contribution covers for all 34 practices, 5 home games, 5 road games, referee costs, insurance (see Art. 7 for details), use of infrastructure (dressing rooms and showers) and other general operating costs. |
| Art. 4.2 |
The member fee for season 2010-2011 has been fixed to 320,00 euro (max. cost, based on min. 15 participants) and needs to be paid at the latest 2 weeks before the start of each new ice hockey season (i.e. before the 15th of August). How? Just transfer the money towards "Jayhawks Ice Hockey Leuven" bank account (see Contact Information page for all details) with message "Jayhawks : member fee : 2010-2011 : name firstname". |
| Art. 4.3 |
If more than 15 participants subscribe for a new season, then the member fee will be recalculated in relation to the real costs and refund will be done accordingly (a rato) to the real amount of members. The more members affiliated, the cheaper for everybody! Max. refund over 1 season is limited to 70,00 euro, hence min. season member fee is set to 250,00 euro. |
| Art. 4.4 |
During the regular season, it is still possible to subscribe to the team, at any given moment, but exclusively after consulting with and a positive answer from the Jayhawks Board. The contribution will in that case be recalculated and set a rato to what is remaining in the actual running season. |
| Art. 4.5 |
By becoming member of Jayhawks, each player entirely submits to these internal rules. |
| Art. 4.6 |
There's no refund for a resigning member. |
| Art. 5 |
EXTRA OUT-OF-REGULAR-SEASON (SUMMER) ON-ICE & OFF-ICE EVENTS |
| Art. 5.1 |
Out of the regular season (i.e. in the period from May 1 until August 31 included), extra on-ice and/or off-ice events may take place (such as : summer practices, summer games, ice hockey tournaments, team barbecue or other teambuilding activities). |
| Art. 5.2 |
The contribution is fixed separately for each on-ice and/or off-ice event and announced in advance by e-mail to all members and over the Jayhawks website. |
| Art. 5.3 |
Subscription in writing by e-mail (as reply to the invitation!) is mandatory for each event. Payment must be done at the latest 1 week before the start of the event. How? Just transfer the money towards "Jayhawks Ice Hockey Leuven" bank account (see Contact Information page for all details) with message "Jayhawks : participation event xyz : name firstname". |
| Art. 5.4 |
There's no refund for those who leave the event earlier than planned (for whatever reason). |
| Art. 6 |
ICE HOCKEY EQUIPMENT IS MANDATORY |
| Art. 6.1 |
Each player must use full protective ice hockey equipment (of decent quality - for practising sports in a safe and responsible way), to prevent sport accidents with injuries (personal and/or other players). |
| Art. 6.2 |
Each player is allowed to use his (her) own personal protective equipment. |
| Art. 6.3 |
With lack to this, the player must rent full protective equipment from the manager of the ice rink. |
| Art. 6.4 |
In particular the protective equipment of each player must comply to the rules of the Royal Belgian Ice Hockey Federation. |
| Art. 6.5 |
Use of a mouth piece (for tooth protection) is mandatory for players that don't wear a full face guard. |
| Art. 6.6 |
Use of a full helmet and neck protector is mandatory for junior players. |
| Art. 7 |
INSURANCE AGAINST ACCIDENTS |
| Art. 7.1 |
The member fee of each player contains the provision for the mandatory insurance "Civil Liability" (CL) and "Legal Assistance" (LA), for sports accident that this player eventually might provoke to someone else. Jayhawks has subscribed to a group insurance policy for all players and pays the contract yearly using the member fees. |
| Art. 7.2 |
Each player is free (independent of Jayhawks) to subscribe at own cost to a private insurance policy against eventual own physical injury. For information : eventual sport accidents of non-professional sportsmen (women) with respect to themselves are automatically covered by the proper medical insurance (new ruling in application since 2003-05-01). |
| Art. 8 |
SANCTIONS |
| Art. 8.1 |
If a player appears not to fit in the Jayhawks mentality, either by abnormal sportly behaviour or by abnormal social behaviour, then he (she) may get an official warning. If this might happen, please note that this is done with the best intentions : the player gets a second chance to adapt himself (herself) to the Jayhawks group. |
| Art. 8.2 |
If a player repeatedly or seriously misbehaves (sportly or socially), if he (she) damages the Jayhawks Association, if he (she) does not fulfill his (her) financial obligations towards the association or if he (she) might get caught for theft or vandalism, then he (she) is immediately excluded from the association. |
